Protect your frame and minimize the damage to your bike by using high quality frame sliders.  Old school sliders were too long and sometimes did more harm than good, but the latest designs give the protection you need at minimal cost.  If you think bodywork and rearsets are expensive, try replacing your frame or swingarm.
